About Floyd's House
At 18, the System Walks Away. We Don't.

For too many young people, foster care does not end with a family, a plan, or a safe place to land. It ends with paperwork, a birthday, and a door closing behind them.
Floyd’s House will exist to open another door.
We are building a family-style home for young adults ages 18 to 22 who are aging out of foster care or facing homelessness. Our mission is simple: provide safe housing, real-life support, consistent adults, and a structured path toward independence.
“You shouldn’t have to try to kill yourself to get help.”
When the System Lets Go, the Numbers Tell the Story
Every year, thousands of young adults leave foster care without the permanent family connections most young people rely on. In FY 2024, 15,379 youth aged out of foster care without a permanent, stable home. Many face homelessness, exploitation, untreated trauma, unemployment, and isolation during the years when they most need steady support.
Floyd’s House is being built to help change that story in East Tennessee.
Because They Deserve More Than a Bed to Fall Into
A bed matters. But a bed alone is not enough. Floyd’s House will provide independent living support for foster youth inside a structured, family-style home designed for stability, healing, accountability, and real independence.
Our model includes:
Safe, stable housing
A real home, not a temporary shelter.
Professional counseling
Trauma-informed support from qualified professionals.
Life skills training
Budgeting, cooking, job readiness, transportation, scheduling, banking, appointments, and everyday independence.
Mentorship and family-style support
Consistent adults and community, so no young person has to face hard moments alone.
A clear path forward
Our Mission: Be the Open Door
The mission of Floyd’s House is to give young adults ages 18 to 22 who are aging out of foster care or facing homelessness a safe home, life skills training, mentorship, counseling, and a family-style community they can count on.
We bridge the gap between foster care and adulthood.
We give young people more than a place to sleep. We give them a launching pad, a support system, and an open door to call when the plan falls apart.
Floyd’s House is being built on a simple belief: structure, love, and accountability can change the entire direction of a life.
Floyd’s House is secular and inclusive. Young adults are welcomed, supported, and respected regardless of faith, background, identity, or belief.

Who We Serve (And Where We Start)
Floyd’s House will begin in East Tennessee, serving Oak Ridge, Knoxville, Anderson County, Knox County, and surrounding communities.
We serve young adults ages 18 to 22 who are aging out of the system or facing severe housing instability.
This mission works when a community stands behind it. We welcome support from donors, civic leaders, local businesses, churches, mentors, volunteers, and neighbors who believe young adults deserve more than survival.
