Transitional Housing for Foster Youth: A Real Home. A Real Start.

Floyd's House Program.

Every year, thousands of teenagers are expected to become self-sufficient adults the moment they turn eighteen — with no family, no safety net, and nowhere to turn. Eighteen is simply too young to face the world alone.

At Floyd’s House, we provide transitional housing for foster youth so no young adult has to cross that threshold without support. Too many leave the system without stable shelter, emotional guidance, or the basic knowledge it takes to survive on their own. We are here to change that.

Built to Launch, Not Just to House

A bed matters — but a bed is not enough.

Floyd’s House is a comprehensive housing and life skills program built to bridge the gap between state care and real, independent adulthood. We are a nonprofit created to serve young adults who are aging out of foster care or facing housing instability.

We offer more than a roof. We offer a safe home, a launching pad, and a family-style support system — because everyone needs someone to call when life falls apart. Our program makes sure young adults have the tools, skills, and relationships they need to build a life they are proud of.

What Every Resident Receives

Young adults need more than services — they need belonging. Every resident receives wraparound support designed to build real-world confidence:

Safe Transitional Housing

A secure, stable, and dignified place to live — so residents can focus on their future, not their survival.

Life Skills Training for Young Adults

Hands-on instruction in everyday adult basics: cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, and managing appointments.

Mentorship for Foster Youth

A consistent, caring adult in your corner — offering emotional support, practical guidance, and encouragement.

Workforce Development for Young Adults

Real career support through resume writing, interview prep, career planning, and local employer connections.

Financial Literacy for Young Adults

Practical education on budgeting, managing money, and understanding insurance — the building blocks of independence.

Accountability is not a punishment. It is how young adults learn to build something stable.

What the Journey Looks Like, Start to Finish

Building a life takes time — and we give you that time.

Floyd’s House is not an overnight emergency shelter. Our phased transitional timeline typically runs 12 to 24 months, giving residents the time they need to finish school, find steady work, save money, and move confidently into their own place.

What Residents Say

Common Questions, Clear Answers

Is Floyd's House an emergency shelter?

No. We are a transitional housing for foster youth program built around long-term structure, real relationships, and lasting results — not a one-night stay.

Yes. Our model is built on dignity and responsibility. Residents are expected to actively pursue employment, education, or vocational training throughout their time with us.

We are named in honor of Floyd, a rescue dog. The name represents rescue, belonging, loyalty, and home — the same family-style care we bring to every young adult who walks through our door.
